The Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC), located in Austin, Texas, proudly announces the establishment of an Internship program to qualified undergraduate and graduate students interested in social services and government-related fields. Paid and unpaid internships are available depending on Agency funding.
HATC established this program to give students practical field experience that complements academic study; to give students experience in an institution where they might work in the future; to allow students to determine the kinds of jobs they wish to find after graduation; and to provide students an opportunity to make contacts in the professional sphere where they will seek employment.
Since its creation in 1975, HATC has demonstrated expertise and capability in managing its public housing and assisted programs. Through partnerships with community organizations, agencies and local governments, HATC provides housing opportunities for low and moderate income persons and families. Recently, the agency has ramped up its efforts to provide programs and resources for residents that promote and encourage self-sufficiency, self-esteem and self-determination.
The Housing Authority of Travis County, Texas is committed to providing quality, decent, safe and affordable housing to eligible families in this community. We strive to make the best use of all available resources so that our residents may live in an environment that is clean, well maintained and attractive. Our goal is to manage our Public Housing, Section 8 Affordable Housing and Homeownership Programs in a manner that is consistent with good, financially sound property management practices. We promote self-sufficiency and endeavor to instill pride and a desire for an enhanced quality of life for our resident families. We undertake affirmative measures to make all services to all eligible families regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, and disabilities.
HATC’s Internship Program is designed to provide qualified undergraduate and graduate students experience in a governmentally regulated environment. The areas of study may include, but are not limited to: Urban Planning, Accounting, Public Administration, Property Management, Real Estate Development, Social Services and Human Resources. In particular, HATC is looking to develop performance measures and indicators for the organization. Additionally, the agency wants to develop an annual report.
