TCDD Seeks Policy & Communications Intern (Paid)

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is accepting applications for its intern position. The intern will assist with administrative duties within the Public Policy and Communications departments of the agency for the 85th Session of the Texas Legislature. The duties of this position may include proofreading and reviewing documents, monitoring public meetings, responding to requests for information from the public, disseminating advocacy information and materials, and assisting with other general office duties.
This position is for the Spring 2017 semester, beginning in January and ending in May of 2017. At least 10-15 hours per week is required. The position is located in Austin, Texas.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with ability to work as part of a team. Candidates should be responsible, detail oriented, and have working knowledge of modern office equipment and computer programs. Prefer interest in disability advocacy and knowledge of public policy and communications. Must have strong writing skills. Applicants must be seeking a degree in Government, Communications, Social Work or a related area and must have at least 30 hours of academic credit.
Salary
The intern will receive a stipend up to $2,000 for the semester.
